Corning Gorilla Glass 6.0 protection is finally almost hitting the market. Corning a famous smartphone screen maker company has given a hint that the Gorilla Glass 6.0 will be even more hardened.
The company has got its pride of having their smartphone glass screens installed on 6 billion devices so far since 2007. Even the first iPhone back in 2007 had a Corning Gorilla Glass.
The company stated that the new version would be able to withstand up to 15 drops before it can break. “Gorilla Glass 6 survived 15 consecutive drops from 1 meter onto rough surfaces and is up to 2x better than Gorilla® Glass 5.” Also compared to the commercially available Corning Gorilla Glass 5.0, the upcoming version will be twice more robust.
“Gorilla Glass 6 not only survives higher drop heights than Gorilla Glass 5 but also survives repeated drops,” states John Bayne VP and General Manager, Corning Gorilla Glass.
Corning states that before releasing a version of their glassware they do a lot of testing and computer programmed simulation to get the most stringent quality than the previous one.
Stating that they do test thousands of pieces of Gorilla Glass every year. “We do drop testing, ball testing, and we do bend testing,” believing in the future of glass as the basis of the future smartphone industry. Which is true keeping in mind the installation of glass is not only on the front but also on the back of devices supporting wireless charging and more so seemingly associated with fast data rates in like in 5G.
