Huawei last month just launched the Huawei Y7 Prime their first flagship specifically made for Kenya in 2018. Huawei Y7 Prime has a 5.99inch HD display with a 1440 x 720 pixels’ resolution.
The Y7 prime joins the selfie party devices in Kenya priced below 20,000Ksh. The device features a 2.5D full view display with a screen to body ratio of 18:9 ratio.
The device has a sleek design with a thin body and 2.5D curved glass panels. Thin bezels on the side are featured on the side, but the top and bottom bezels need some extra work.
Mainly the Y7 doesn’t feature a top notch, and the top bezel houses the selfie camera while the bottom bezel is just used as a placeholder for the Huawei brand name. Luckily with the Huawei Y7 Prime has a headphone jack. You can choose between Blue, Gold, and Black for the Y7.
Huawei Y7 Prime has 3GB of RAM bundled with 32GB of internal storage which is still expandable via microSD up to 256GB.
A non-removable Li-Ion 4000mAh battery powers the Huawei Y7 Prime. Sadly, the device doesn’t support fast charge like the premium devices currently in the market.
The device is powered by Android version 8.0 (Oreo). However, the device still runs on the EMUI 8.0 framework a sign Huawei is eyeing to make its OS soon.
An older Qualcomm MSM88937 Snapdragon 430 chipset is the basis of the Y7 prime with a 1.4GHz Octa-Core Cortex A53 CPU paired with an Adreno 505 GPU.
The primary camera is a Dual Camera 13MP + 2MP with LED flash and an 8MP selfie camera. The primary camera can record videos up to 1080p @30fps. The Y7 camera supports several features such as touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama and also Geo-tagging.
